About this policy
This policy explains how information is handled when you visit Good Dog Questions at gooddogquestions.com, an Australian dog-information website. It covers our articles, recipes, contact form and games, and explains the separate services that your browser may connect to.
Information handled when you browse
You can read our guides without creating an account. Our current website does not offer visitor accounts, a newsletter signup, comments, pet-photo uploads or a merchandise checkout. Please do not send personal or sensitive information through the site search.
Our hosting and network providers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, access times and error or security logs to deliver and protect the website. Their processing and retention are governed by their own service terms and privacy practices.
Contact enquiries and privacy requests
Our Contact Us form collects your name, email address, enquiry type and message. We use these details to respond, investigate feedback or corrections, and handle privacy enquiries. Please do not include sensitive personal information or information about other people unless necessary.
Messages are processed by FormSubmit and delivered to our Gmail inbox. FormSubmit states that it retains submissions for 30 days. Copies received in our inbox may remain longer while we handle the enquiry and maintain relevant correspondence. We do not use contact enquiries to subscribe you to marketing.
FormSubmit uses spam protection including Google reCAPTCHA, which may process browser, device and interaction information. See FormSubmit’s privacy policy and Google’s Privacy Policy. These providers may process information outside Australia.
To ask about information you have provided, request access, correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern, select “Privacy enquiry” on our contact form. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request and may retain records where needed to resolve a dispute or meet an applicable obligation.
Dog Trivia levels, Quick Play and the public Hall of Fame
Levels 1–10: level play does not require an account. If you choose “Save my level progress on this device”, your current level, answers in that unfinished level and best score for each completed level are saved in this browser’s local storage under gdq-trivia-levels-v1. This saves no name or email. Our level-game code does not submit these answers or scores to the server or Hall of Fame. Progress is not synced across devices. It remains until you turn saving off, use “Clear level progress”, or clear the website’s browser data. With saving off, progress lasts only for the current page visit. General page analytics and technical hosting logs still apply as described below.
Original Quick Play: Quick Play can be played without an account. A random round token and your progress are kept in this browser tab’s session storage. Server records hold that token, question order, answers and calculated score. Rounds expire after two hours and cannot be continued after expiry. Expired records are deleted when a new round starts, so physical deletion can occur later than expiry. Browser session storage remains until the tab is closed or replaced by a new round.
Hall of Fame sharing is optional and restricted to people who confirm they are 18 or older. It asks you to select a nickname from preset words and optionally a broad country. Do not use a real name, address or precise location. No GPS access is requested. The nickname, selected country, score and posting date become public only after you explicitly consent. Entries are displayed for up to 90 days; expired entries are deleted when a new round starts. Hosting logs may be retained separately under the provider’s policies.
After posting, you receive a private removal key. Keep it to remove that entry using the game’s removal form. A hashed form is stored on our server; the raw key is shown only to you and temporarily held in this tab. We do not publish round tokens, answers or removal keys. If you lose a key, use the contact form for a privacy enquiry and identify the nickname and posting date; we may need enough information to identify the entry.
To limit automated abuse, our game server derives a short-lived rate-limit identifier from the connection’s IP address and hourly time window. The raw IP address is not stored in the game database; hosting providers may process it in their own logs. Rate-limit records expire within two hours and are removed on subsequent new rounds. This is pseudonymous technical data, not a promise of anonymity. Game data is stored using the website’s hosted database and may be processed outside Australia. There is no paid competition, prize or verified identity claim.
Search and game storage
The site search matches your words against a list of pages in your browser. Our search code does not submit your search text to an external search service or keep its own search history. The search page does not load Google Analytics and uses a no-referrer policy so its URL is not passed as the referring page when you follow a link. Submitted searches appear in the search page’s URL as a q parameter: that URL can remain in browser history and may reach technical hosting logs when the page is requested, including when a saved search URL is reopened. Do not enter personal or sensitive information.
Sausage Sky saves your personal-best score in your browser’s local storage under the name sausage-sky-best. Our game code does not send that score to a server. It remains on that browser until you clear the website’s stored data; clearing it resets your saved best score. Local storage is different from a cookie, but both store information on your device.
Fonts and externally hosted games
Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to request these files, which can disclose technical information such as your IP address, browser details and the referring page. See Google Fonts privacy information and Google’s Privacy Policy.
The Frankie vs the House page embeds a game hosted at frankie-vs-the-house.lovable.app. Loading that page connects your browser to the external game and its service providers. They may process technical usage information and use their own cookies or browser storage. This policy does not describe or control every feature of that separately hosted game. See Lovable’s privacy information.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics on pages other than the search page to understand how visitors find and use Good Dog Questions, including which pages are viewed. The Google tag sends usage information to Google and uses first-party cookies to distinguish visits. Information may include page addresses, referring websites, browser and device details, and interactions with the site. Google may process this information outside Australia. Technical hosting logs are separate from Google Analytics.
Our Google Analytics tag disables Google signals and advertising-personalisation signals. For information about Google’s processing, see Google Analytics data safeguards and Google’s Privacy Policy. You can manage cookies in your browser or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
Google AdSense code is installed on article and other content pages. Loading this code can contact Google and make advertising-related requests; installing it does not by itself confirm approval or that a visible advertisement is being displayed. The code is excluded from our search, All topics directory, Toy Dogs and Working Dogs directory pages, contact, policy, editorial-information and game pages. Loading the code connects your browser to Google, which may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details and the referring page. The following explains how Google advertising will work if it is enabled.
When Google ads are enabled, third-party advertising providers, including Google, may use cookies to select ads using your earlier visits to this website and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalise advertising based on browsing activity across websites. Advertising services may also process device identifiers, IP addresses and ad interactions to deliver, measure and protect their services.
You can manage Google personalised advertising through Google My Ad Center. For participating third-party advertising providers, visit the Digital Advertising Alliance’s choices page. These choices do not necessarily remove all ads or stop processing needed to deliver non-personalised ads.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s advertising technology information. Advertising configuration and applicable consent controls must be checked before monetisation, including Google-certified consent management where required for personalised advertising to visitors in the EEA, UK or Switzerland. This privacy notice itself does not obtain consent.
Your browser choices
You can use your browser settings to block or delete cookies and clear site data, including local storage. These choices may reset game scores or affect site features. Advertising choices may need to be set separately for each browser or device. Avoid opening an externally embedded game page if you do not want your browser to connect to that game provider.
Service providers, security and retention
Website delivery, security, fonts and externally hosted features can involve providers processing information outside Australia. Their privacy policies explain their handling of information. We do not sell a visitor mailing list or maintain customer-uploaded pet-photo records on the current site.
The website uses HTTPS to protect information in transit. No online system is completely secure. Browser-stored game scores remain under your control, while hosting and third-party records are subject to the relevant provider’s retention practices. We will describe retention for any new information-collection features before introducing them.
External links and future features
Our articles link to retailers, veterinary organisations and other websites. If you follow a link, the destination’s privacy policy applies. We will update this policy before adding pet-photo submissions, customer orders, newsletters or other features that collect personal information.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the website’s information practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
